Kosovo has received AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma drones purchased from the United States, announced Acting Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci.

Maqedonci posted on Facebook that the delivery happened last week. The purchase was made through a government-to-government program.

“The Ministry of Defense procured the Puma drones via the U.S. Foreign Military Sale (FMS) program. We paid for the system in 2021,” Maqedonci wrote on Monday, September 8.

He added that the Puma drones will enhance Kosovo Security Force’s (KSF) capabilities in unmanned aerial systems, alongside other aircraft.

Maqedonci highlighted the growing defense cooperation with the U.S., which supports the development of Kosovo’s military and serves the shared interests of both countries.

Kosovo has bought weapons from the U.S. before. Last year, it requested 200 Javelin anti-tank missiles.

The Kosovo Security Force has been undergoing a transformation since 2018. The transition phase is planned to last ten years.
