Professor Mina Naqo, a prominent figure in Albanian mathematics and a key contributor to national education and science, passed away.

Naqo was born on January 12, 1939, in Vlorë. In 1955, he began studies in mathematics and physics at the Higher Pedagogical Institute of Tirana, where he excelled.

In 1959, he became a lecturer in the Mathematics Department at the Faculty of Natural Sciences. His career remained closely linked to the Mathematics Department at the University of Tirana, where he served for decades as both a teacher and a mentor to generations of students. His calm presence and scientific authority inspired students and colleagues alike, making him a model of dedication, integrity, and passion for knowledge.

As a statistics specialist, Naqo developed programs and taught courses at multiple universities. He authored the book Introduction to Statistics with Excel.

He also wrote and co-wrote numerous academic and school textbooks, which shaped the education of thousands of Albanian students. Through his research and publications, he left a lasting mark on mathematics and raised academic standards in the country.

With deep knowledge and creativity in probability theory, he guided research topics and supervised dissertations for many mathematics lecturers. He also contributed to the Academy of Sciences and other institutions.
