Protest in Support of Former KLA Leaders, FM Spiropali: Red-and-Black Hearts Against Injustice

Tirana, October 15 – A nationwide protest will take place on Friday, October 17, at 17:00 in Skanderbeg Square, Tirana, in support of former KLA leaders.
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, said today that red-and-black hearts will stand against injustice during the protest. Meanwhile, the minister noted that freedom cannot be complete in this century while liberators face imprisonment. She emphasized that national conscience cannot rest as long as Thaçi, Veseli, Krasniqi, and Selimi remain in jail.
Spiropali condemned attempts to turn yesterday’s heroes and Euro-Atlantic allies into criminals. These actions, she said, are more than criminal and must end immediately and unconditionally.
Citizens in Tirana, Prishtina, Tetova, and other Albanian communities unite under one call: freedom has a name. The minister explained that the name belongs to yesterday’s liberators and today’s fighters defending more than personal freedom.
Former KLA leaders continue to fight for truth, historical memory, and the rights of a people. The protest on October 17 will gather Albanians worldwide in Skanderbeg Square. Participants will raise their voices in The Hague for the release of the liberators.
The special court faces criticism from Spiropali. She argued that it cannot remain a synonym for injustice or a shame to international law. The court, according to her, reverses history, relativizes truth, and violates sacrifices through procedural unfairness and extended pretrial detention.
Current accusations against the leaders consist of unfounded and unverified claims. In fact, these claims stem from a discredited report produced as fiction rather than serious national or international investigations.
Albania will remain a strong, united voice supporting the Republic of Kosovo, Spiropali stressed. The country will continue denouncing injustice until the fighters return home.
She concluded: “On Friday, October 17, in Skanderbeg Square. Albanians united for Freedom! For Justice! For Kosova!”
