National Library Exhibits 100 Rare Bibles

The National Library opened the exhibition “The Bible Collection” today.

The exhibition features around 100 rare Bibles and 452 biblical materials. These works were printed from the 15th to the 19th century in Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, and beyond. The collection also includes historical manuscripts and translations by Buzuku, Budi, Bogdani, Kristoforidhi, Qiriazi, Fan Noli, and Dom Simon Filipaj.

The exhibition continues the Library’s series revealing hidden treasures of its collection. It offers a rare journey into sacred books and manuscripts that shaped centuries of culture.

The display is divided into two parts. The first part showcases over 100 rare Bibles for the public for the first time. They include editions from Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, and more, dating from the mid-15th to the 19th century. It also features manuscripts with excerpts from the Holy Scriptures.

The second part highlights Bible translations by Buzuku, Budi, Bogdani, and later figures such as Kristoforidhi, Qiriazi, Fan Noli, and Dom Simon Filipaj. It also covers 19th-century efforts by the British and Foreign Bible Society. The exhibition blends history, culture, and written heritage.

The exhibition is open daily from November 19 to December 19, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
