Former U.S. Ambassador Christopher R. Hill promoted his book “Serving Far from Home” in Tirana today. Prime Minister Edi Rama attended the event.

Hill reflected on his first visit to Albania 34 years ago. He recalled arriving at Hotel Dajti and observing life on the streets. “It showed me the closeness and resilience of the Albanian people,” he said.

He emphasized the importance of listening as a diplomat. “Every diplomat should dive in and listen carefully to the people,” Hill added.

Hill praised Albania’s role in the region and Europe. “Albania became an active player in regional issues and NATO. Now the next challenge is the European Union,” he said.

He concluded, “It is vital for Albania to join the EU, and there is no longer any doubt that it will.”
