Exhibition “Communication” strengthens collaboration between FAB and Prishtina’s Faculty of Arts

The Faculty of Fine Arts (FAB) in Tirana has renewed its historic partnership with the Faculty of Arts in Prishtina. As part of this collaboration, the two institutions will host joint exhibitions, exchange events, and student programs.
This visual dialogue began in the 1970s. However, yesterday the tradition restarted with a solo exhibition by Agron Bytyçi, a Painting lecturer at Prishtina’s Faculty of Arts.
Bytyçi’s exhibition, titled “Communication”, will welcome visitors at the FAB Gallery until 22 December. Moreover, it is curated by Prof. Asc. Dr. Zef Paci, an art historian.
In his curatorial text, Paci explains that Bytyçi’s artistic style uses unusual symbolism and fragmented, mysterious landscapes. Thus, his work moves within the territory of surrealism.
During his academic years, Bytyçi encountered and was inspired by surrealism and its figurative forms. Throughout his career, human presence dominates his landscapes. Enigmatic figures appear from different eras. Furthermore, layering occurs mainly around the head, representing fragmented thought and consciousness.
These characters maintain a solemn tone. At the same time, they cross the borders of the pathetic and the kitsch. Some resemble distorted sculptures or plastic mannequins. Consequently, they become unsettling muses.
Bytyçi’s surreal vocabulary addresses 21st-century themes. For instance, his work explores mechanization, fragmentation, emotional robotization, digital-age pressure, and broken communication. According to Paci, Bytyçi’s paintings create a strong psychological atmosphere. His figures symbolize inner crises in contemporary humans and form a modern allegory of social anxiety.
