Begaj: “Order of Skanderbeg” Restores Standards to Honor True Contributions

President Bajram Begaj awarded the first decorations under Albania’s new law on honors. The event marks the 100th anniversary of the Order of Skanderbeg.
He said the Order honors real deeds, not formal rewards. “Albania is built by people with work and commitment,” Begaj stated. Next, he explained that public recognition shows merit and dedication.
Begaj added that the Order, together with the Supreme Order of the Eagle and the Order of the Academic Laurel, forms the “trinity of state honor.” They represent Albania’s flag, virtue, and knowledge.
Then, he urged institutions and citizens to propose people who quietly uphold professional, civic, and ethical responsibility.
Begaj said the second century of the Order should focus on fair and honest recognition. Awards must regain their weight and respect.
He praised the honorees for their sacrifice, commitment, and integrity. Each recipient represents an important chapter in Albania’s history and serves as an example for future generations, especially with Albania joining Europe.
Finally, he concluded: public recognition should honor merit, not reward formality.
