Today, Primo Shllaku, a distinguished writer, poet, translator, teacher, and promoter of the Gheg dialect, celebrates his 78th birthday.

Shllaku was born in Shkodër on December 16, 1947. He completed primary school in his hometown and studied Albanian Language and Literature at the University of Tirana. Later, he moved to Tirana, where he contributed not only as a teacher but also as a writer and translator, promoting Gheg linguistic and cultural values.

Throughout his career, Shllaku has received numerous awards for his work. Initially, he worked as a teacher in the Shllak area of Shkodër. Then, he taught at the forestry school and later at the industrial school.

Moreover, he comes from a notable artistic family. He is the son of director and People’s Artist Lec Shllaku, the nephew of renowned translator Gjon Shllaku, and the brother of actor Bruno Shllaku of the “Migjeni” Theater.

Among his most significant works are the poetry collections Lule nate and Hana e njelmët e ditës, the novels Muzikantët and Pesha e padurueshme e pafajësisë, the prose work Nji Uliks që s’mbërriti kurrë në Itakë, and the drama collection Aktorë pa kujtesë.

Furthermore, the Shkodër Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage recognizes Shllaku as a personality of immense value. His work and creativity have left lasting marks on Albanian literature.
