Albania to host the 20th Session of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Meeting

The Albanian delegation of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports took part in the ministerial meeting of the Council of Ministers of Culture of South-East Europe (CoMoCoSEE). The delegation held two key international meetings to strengthen cooperation on the protection and promotion of cultural and natural heritage.
Minister Blendi Gonxhja announced a meeting with Magdalena Landry, Director of UNESCO’s Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, and the UNESCO culture team. The meeting reviewed ongoing cooperation with the ministry, assessed concrete results, and outlined new projects planned for 2026.
During the meeting, the parties confirmed a major initiative. Albania will host the 20th Session of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Meeting. This decision strengthens Albania’s active and trusted role at the international level.
The delegation also met with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of North Macedonia. The talks focused on Lake Ohrid, a shared natural and cultural asset and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation, institutional coordination, and a sustainable approach in line with UNESCO standards. The goal is to ensure long-term protection of this unique ecosystem and landscape for future generations.
At the ministerial meeting, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Lira Pipa led the Albanian delegation.
