Rama Visits “Kengo Art Park” Construction Site, New Center for Art and Culture

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the “Kengo Art Park” construction site today. The project will become a new center for art and culture in Petrelë.
The park is designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. It covers 32,000 square meters. Moreover, it continues the government’s efforts to transform public assets into spaces for art, culture, exhibitions, innovation, and youth socializing.
Rama toured the site with Dritan Agolli, Director of the Albanian Development Fund. He observed the work closely. The park will offer spaces for all ages.
Agolli said the project spans two main zones. Workers reinforced existing structures, which were degraded. They rebuilt them from scratch while respecting the architectural design.
Furthermore, he added, “These buildings were ruined. Now, internal plastering with artistic and moisture-resistant materials is underway.”
Agolli emphasized that the project supports the government’s plan to turn degraded public assets into functional and architectural landmarks.
Once finished, the park will host art, innovation, culture, and youth activities. In addition, the design preserves the historical memory of the buildings.
The park will include permanent and temporary exhibition pavilions, workshop spaces, artist residences, administrative areas, a bar-restaurant, and reception zones.
A special feature is open squares and a natural amphitheater for cultural events. It will create a lively space for youth and families.
According to the plan, “Kengo Art Park” will finish by September next year.
With 7,400 square meters of built area, it will become one of Tirana’s largest art and culture centers. Therefore, it will add a new landmark to Albania’s cultural and tourist map.
