Kosovan acting PM Kurti: No obstacles remain for forming parliament and government

TIRANA, December 31 – Self-Determination Movement leader and acting Prime Minister of Kosova, Albin Kurti said he will soon meet President Vjosa Osmani to discuss the next steps.

Kosovan president Osmani announced her intention to run for another presidential term. Kurti said they will first wait for the parliament to be constituted before moving forward.

“We will wait for the certification of election results and the constitution of the new parliament. Then we will proceed. Today, on the last day of 2025, I will meet President Osmani to discuss the way forward,” Kurti said during a visit to Telekom of Kosova.

Asked about potential cooperation with other parties, Kurti said the results of the December 28 snap elections are clear, and any obstacles to forming the parliament and government no longer exist.

“Nothing new to add. The result is clearer than ever. The previous delays and obstacles are now nonexistent,” he added.

In the December 28 elections, Vetëvendosje [Self-Determination Movement] came first with 48.41% of the vote.
