Vote counting process ends in Kosova, Self-Determination Movement leads with over 51 percent

TIRANA, January 9 – The Central Election Commission announced that it completed the vote counting for the early parliamentary elections held on December 28. Officials counted the last ballots by mail, finishing around 2:00 a.m. on Friday.
The commission said parties can submit complaints to the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel within 48 hours of any alleged irregularities. The Democratic Party of Kosovo submitted a complaint about mail-in votes from the Kosovar diaspora, requesting a recount.
Preliminary results show that Vetëvendosje [Self-Determination] won 51.11 percent of the vote and will take 57 seats in the Assembly. The Democratic Party of Kosova received 20.19 percent and 22 seats. The Democratic League of Kosova got 13.23 percent, which translates to 15 seats. The Alliance for the Future of Kosova, supported by 5.5 percent of voters, will hold six seats.
Minority parties will occupy 20 guaranteed seats. Authorities noted that these elections were the fourth parliamentary vote in Kosova in 2025 and the second for the Assembly.
