Exhibition “The Line, the Continuation of the Point” at FAB Gallery

The FAB Gallery opened the exhibition “The Line, the Continuation of the Point” by painter Eshref Qahili over the weekend.

Curated by Nita Qahili and Sadik Spahija, the exhibition will remain open to the public until January 19.

Eshref Qahili sees the line as a continuation of the point. He considers it the creation of thought, the experience of a moment, the formation of spirituality, and the balance of life.

The exhibition curators write that Qahili’s drawings start as sketches. They emerge from moments when the artist is lost in thought, influenced by experiences and pursued by time. These drawings connect personal reflections with the recreation and reformulation of experiences.

For Qahili, as for social, academic, and visual researchers, drawing is a fundamental pillar of art education and practice. It is essential for developing observational and cognitive skills.

Like the Daoists, Qahili’s lines move across various materials: charcoal, ink, pencil, or pastel. Through them, he explores the nature of reality, his place in it, and philosophical and spiritual reflection.

Eshref Qahili was born in 1960 in Rahovica, Preshevë Valley. He graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts of Pristina in 1983. He completed postgraduate studies in painting at the same academy in 1997.

Since 1990, Qahili has held over 20 solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions in countries including England, India, Ireland, the USA, France, Italy, Cyprus, Japan, Turkey, Canada, Poland, Mexico, Romania, and China.

His work has received national and international awards. He currently leads the Department of Illustration and Drawing at the Faculty of Arts, University of Pristina.
