Puppet shows in the capital’s kindergartens: Educating children through art

The cold winter days have not slowed down the usual liveliness in the capital’s kindergartens.
Instead of occasional trips to museums or other institutions, children now enjoy puppet theater inside the kindergarten facilities.
“To avoid going out in cold weather, we invited actors who perform puppet shows,” said Artjavola Mile, director of one of the city’s kindergartens. She added that these shows break the routine and make kindergarten more enjoyable for the children.
Today, over 110 children watched the puppet performance of Frozen. Reactions varied. Most of the children were delighted by the characters Elsa, Anna, and Olaf, as they spoke and sang. Meanwhile, educators stayed close to children who were frightened by the dark stage curtain.
Indoor theater has now become a tradition in the kindergartens. These shows serve not only as entertainment but also as a way to educate children through art.
Director Mile explained that the practice began when the Puppet Theater temporarily closed for renovation. She added that, when weather permits, older children also visit museums and cultural sites, such as the Armed Forces Museum, the Botanical Garden, and the Tirana Lake area for picnics.
Overall, puppet shows provide a fun and educational way for children to engage with culture, even during the winter months.
