President Vjosa Osmani called the invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join the Peace Board for Gaza a historic development for Kosovo.

First, Osmani said Kosovo received the invitation as a founding member. She said the country will contribute its experience in state-building.

Next, she stressed that Kosovo’s inclusion in the U.S.-led multilateral body strengthens its international standing.

“This is a historic moment for the Republic of Kosovo,” Osmani said. “It marks Kosovo’s membership in an international organization as a founding member. It also reflects leadership by the United States, our strategic ally.”

She added that the United States selected Kosovo for its experience in peacebuilding and alliance-building. “With great pride, I accepted President Trump’s personal invitation,” she said. “I thank him for the trust and the commitment to work together for peace and global security.”

Meanwhile, Osmani said Kosovo is coordinating closely with the White House to ensure a concrete and meaningful contribution. She noted that Kosovo, though small, can make a significant impact.

She also clarified funding issues. The invitation and accompanying documents do not mention mandatory payments. Member states may contribute voluntarily, she said.

Furthermore, Osmani described Kosovo as one of the United States’ major successes in peacebuilding. She said Kosovo offers valuable experience, perspective, and vision for the initiative.

Finally, she said Kosovo will participate as an equal partner. The invitation, she added, strengthens Kosovo’s international position and its alliance with the United States.

Osmani made the remarks after a commemorative academy marking the 20th anniversary of the death of former President Ibrahim Rugova.

The Peace Board is an international mechanism outlined in a UN Security Council resolution in November 2025. It aims to oversee Gaza’s interim administration and the rebuilding of civilian institutions.
