“Light in the Deep”: Human Beings Between Light and Shadow in Blerta Xhomo’s Works

Blerta Xhomo presents her exhibition Light in the Deep at FAB Gallery this late January. The show invites visitors on a journey “into the human interior,” reminiscent of Dante, yet expressed pictorially through a style that blends European expressionism with the drama of Baroque composition.

In Light in the Deep, Xhomo explores the duality at the heart of existence. She examines the human condition, caught between light and shadow, good and evil, matter and spirit. These opposing dimensions coexist, forming a necessary balance for a higher understanding.

The curatorial text explains that the exhibition, composed of specially created works, reflects on the complexity and contradictions of human nature. People remain constantly divided between light and shadow, making life uncertain, challenging, and filled with endings and new beginnings.

Furthermore, some works reveal a Futurist influence. Strong lines convey speed and movement, channeling an inner energy that radiates from the figures into the surrounding space.

Overall, Light in the Deep invites viewers to reflect on the fragile, dynamic, and contradictory nature of human existence through a vivid, expressive visual language.
