TIRANA, January 29 – Got it — Friends of writer Ismail Kadare placed a bronze statue at his favorite café near Tirana’s Grand Park. The event marked the 90th anniversary of his birth.

His wife, Helena Kadare, attended and told the media the day had special meaning for her. She recalled how Kadare visited the café daily with his publisher for walks and coffee.

Sculptor Henri Mimani created the statue. He focused on making Kadare’s figure look human and approachable.
