Kosova’s path toward NATO and EU irreversible

TIRANA, February 9 – Kosova President Vjosa Osmani told the British magazine Monocle that Kosova’s path toward NATO and the European Union remained irreversible despite challenges.
Earlier, Osmani said the process mattered for all countries, especially smaller states like Kosova. She explained that most diplomatic engagement takes place within Europe. She added that visiting each country individually across continents would require significant time.
Meanwhile, Osmani described relations between Kosova and the United States of America as existential. She said the United States helped Kosova become one of the major success stories of American foreign policy in modern history.
In addition, Osmani said the United States led global efforts to save lives in Kosova and enable freedom, independence, and democracy. She noted that other partners also contributed, including the United Kingdom and many European Union countries.
At the same time, the president stressed intensified cooperation with the United States in defense and the economy. She said Kosova received strong American support in defense due to regional security sensitivities.
Later, Osmani said economic cooperation with the United States had expanded beyond assistance. She stated that Kosova now offered significant investment potential.
She added that, despite its size, Kosova accessed hundreds of millions of European consumers through free trade agreements. As a result, investing in Kosova meant access to the European market with lower labor costs and favorable conditions.
Finally, Osmani said Kosova fully aligned with the European Union’s foreign and security policy, including sanctions against Russia. She said values and positioning mattered most during difficult times.
