Diocesan Museum of Shkodër reopens, around 700 exhibits show strength of faith under communism

TIRANA, February 12 – The Diocesan Museum of Shkodër is set to reopen at the end of February. It invites visitors to explore the historical heritage of Christian faith in the city, which has deep spiritual roots.
Considered a unique museum in the country, it houses around 700 exhibits. They document the history, sacrifice, and resilience of the Catholic clergy over the years, especially during the communist dictatorship.
Researcher Gjovalin Çuni said that the museum reopened after a period of closure. He noted that the museum was established 10 years ago and is very modern.
The exhibits are voluntary contributions from families in Shkodër. These families preserved objects of historical and spiritual value over the years.
Çuni added that reopening the museum is not just an enrichment for Shkodër but for all of Albania.
The Diocesan Museum will be open to visitors every day of the week, from 09:00 to 17:00. It increases the number of museums in the northern capital.
