TIRANA, Febryary 18 – On February 18, 1975, actor Naim Frashëri passed away.

He was born in Leskovik on August 15, 1923, from a family of beys from Përmet. He began his artistic career on the partisan theater stage, where he stood out for his acting skills, and after the war, he joined the National Theater in 1945.

Some of his most applauded roles include Valeri in “Tartuffe” [Tartufi], Gjoni in “The Good Brave Man with Many Friends” [Trimi i mirë me shokë shumë], the General in “The General of the Dead Army” [Gjenerali i ushtrisë së vdekur], Leka in “The Përkolgjina Family” [Përkolgjinajt], Nikolla in “The Enemies” [Armiqtë], Sasha Ribakov in “The Kremlin Hours” [Orët e Kremlinit], Lubeni in “The Leipzig Trial” [Procesi i Lajpcigut], and Hamlet in “Hamlet” [Hamleti].

Jonuz Bruga in “The Fisherman’s Family” [Familja e Peshkatarit] would have been his 80th and final role.

In cinema, he appeared in eight films, including “Skanderbeg” [Skënderbeu] in 1953 and “Tana” [Tana] in 1958. In 1959, he received the Republic Award, Class I. For his mastery, he was also honored with the high distinction “Hero of Socialist Labor” and the title “People’s Artist.”
