ICMG Secretary General praises Kosovo’s preparations for the 21st Mediterranean Games

The Secretary General of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (ICMG), Iakovos Filippousis, highly commended Kosovo’s preparations for hosting the 21st Mediterranean Games, describing the edition as an exceptional opportunity for the country’s sports, infrastructure, and institutional development.
During his visit, Filippousis met with representatives of Kosovo’s sports institutions. He emphasized the critical role of the Olympic Committee of Kosovo and national sports federations in ensuring the Games’ success. He noted that preparations for Prishtina 2030 are progressing in the right direction.
“The leadership of the National Olympic Committee and the National Sports Federations deserves recognition,” Filippousis said. “The 21st edition of the Mediterranean Games represents an extraordinary opportunity for Prishtina and Kosovo. It will benefit not only sports, where countries will compete at the highest level in 28 disciplines, but also modern and sustainable infrastructure development. These opportunities will strengthen athlete preparation, support long-term sports development, and raise performance standards for years to come.”
He added that hosting the Mediterranean Games will have multiple impacts for Kosovo, leaving a lasting legacy in sports, infrastructure, and institutional capacity, while enhancing Prishtina’s position on the map of major international sporting events.
