Deputy foreign minister Ahmeti meets U.S. lawmakers in Washington

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Kreshnik Ahmeti held separate meetings in Washington, D.C. with Senator Gary Peters and Congressman Ritchie Torres.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo, the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Kosovo and the United States of America. Both sides explored ways to bolster bilateral relations and expand collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

Ahmeti and the lawmakers highlighted the continued importance of U.S. support for securing new international recognitions of Kosovo and advancing the country’s path toward NATO membership.

The talks also covered U.S. assistance through the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Deputy Minister Ahmeti expressed his gratitude for Washington’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Kosovo’s defense and security capacities.

In addition, the officials discussed the situation of ethnic Albanians in the Preševo Valley, emphasizing the need to improve their rights and living conditions and to increase international attention to their situation.

Ahmeti thanked Senator Peters and Congressman Torres for their consistent support of Kosovo. He praised their continued engagement in advancing the strong partnership between the two countries.
