President Begaj in Skopje, President Davkova highlights trade and investment potential

TIRANA, February 27 – President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, is on an official visit to North Macedonia. In Skopje, he held a joint press conference with President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.
During the conference, President Siljanovska-Davkova said discussions focused on increasing trade exchanges and investments. In addition, she underlined the need for joint infrastructure projects and easier procedures through cross-border cooperation.
She stated that the visit confirmed excellent friendly relations built on mutual respect, trust, partnership, and shared vision. Moreover, she noted that both sides exchanged views on nearly all issues and maintain open political dialogue without unresolved matters. As a result, she said both countries have a solid basis for cooperation in all areas.
President Siljanovska-Davkova emphasized untapped potential between the business communities. Furthermore, she called for stronger infrastructure links and joint activity in this field. She added that customs authorities from both countries already provide a positive example of cooperation.
Turning to the European perspective, she expressed satisfaction with Albania’s progress toward European Union integration. At the same time, she said the entire Western Balkans is moving closer to the European Union. She stressed that membership requires reforms, particularly in fighting corruption and strengthening democratic institutions. Finally, she stated that both presidents believe European Union membership represents the greatest investment for the Western Balkans.
