Kosova accuses Serbia of border military provocations

TIRANA, March 19 – Kosova Prime Minister Albin Kurti has accused Serbia of provoking Kosova through military exercises near the border and in areas inhabited by ethnic Albanians in the Bujanoc municipality. He said Serbia deliberately uses its army to exert pressure and maintain tension in the region.
Kurti described the exercises as a dangerous display over homes, schools, and medical centers, aiming to intimidate local residents. He called on the international community to respond to Serbia’s destabilizing actions and uphold Kosova’s sovereignty.
The provocations involve Serbia’s 66th Parachute Brigade conducting drills with H125M helicopters and parachute jumps just meters from Kosova’s border. Kurti linked the brigade to support for criminal Milan Radojcic, responsible for a terrorist attack in Banjska, Zveçan, where police officer Afrim Bunjaku was killed. He warned that these actions, combined with rhetoric from Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, heighten regional risks.
Kurti also noted that Serbia’s recent acquisition of Chinese and Russian weaponry confirms the strategic use of military force to maintain influence and pressure across the Balkans. He urged continued international vigilance and cooperation to prevent further escalation and ensure regional stability.
