Kosovo and Switzerland Deepen Cooperation Under Kurti’s New Term

Albin Kurti met with Jürg Sprecher in Pristina. The discussion focused on deepening cooperation between Kosovo and Switzerland.

Kurti said Switzerland is one of Kosovo’s most valued partners. He highlighted shared values: rule of law, democratic governance, and sustainable development.

Kurti expressed interest in expanding collaboration during his new term. He thanked Ambassador Sprecher for ongoing support through KFOR and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

Under SDC’s four-year program, Switzerland has committed €86 million to Kosovo. For 2026-2029, an additional €64 million is pledged.

Ambassador Sprecher congratulated Kurti on his new mandate. He said Switzerland will continue close work with Kosovo’s democratic institutions.

They also discussed the Kosovo diaspora in Switzerland, calling it a key bridge between the two countries. Trade matters were also on the agenda, including the EFTA Free Trade Agreement signed in January in Davos, which is yet to be ratified by Kosovo’s parliament.

Switzerland is Kosovo’s second-largest source of foreign direct investment. Nearly one-fifth of remittances to Kosovo come from the Swiss-based diaspora, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
