TIRANA, April 24 – Acting President Albulena Haxhiu has declared Friday a state day of mourning in Kosova in honour of academic Rexhep Qosja, who died at the age of 90.

The presidency in Pristina said the decision reflects institutional respect for one of the most prominent figures in Albanian cultural and intellectual life. It said Qosja left a significant legacy through his scholarly and public work.

Albulena Haxhiu said the state expresses gratitude for Qosja’s contribution to culture and knowledge. She described him as a figure who shaped Albanian intellectual discourse.

Authorities said flags will fly at half-mast across all public institutions in Kosova during the day of mourning. The family confirmed that the burial ceremony was held in the presence of close relatives.
