Croatia sends 45th contingent of 133 troops to NATO mission in Kosova

TIRANA, May 20 – A total of 133 members of the 45th Croatian contingent deploy to the NATO mission in Kosova (KFOR). The contingent includes 12 female soldiers. The ceremony takes place at the “Colonel Predrag Matanovic” barracks in Petrinja. Officials underline Croatia’s role in international security and stability.

The Croatian Ministry of Defence confirms the deployment of 133 personnel. Brigadier Marijan Grgjan commands the contingent.

Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ivan Anusic addresses the troops. He says Croatian soldiers hold strong respect in NATO missions. He says allied forces consistently recognize their performance. He refers to the creation of the Croatian Armed Forces during the Homeland War. He describes it as a victorious force formed by volunteers. He tells the soldiers they will represent the reputation of the Croatian Armed Forces in KFOR.

The contingent deploys to three locations. These include the “Film City” camp in Prishtina. Another site is APOD in Slatina near Prishtina. The third location is the “Villaggio Italia” camp in Peja. Most troops stay in Peja.

Croatian Armed Forces participate in KFOR since 2009. They support stability and security in Kosova.
