Laç pilgrimage: authorities on alert for St. Anthony Church event

Authorities have put security and emergency structures on alert ahead of the pilgrimage at the Church of St. Anthony in Laç on June 12–13, where thousands of believers are expected.

The State Police will deploy additional officers. They will manage traffic, maintain public order, and guide pilgrims.

At the same time, health services will remain on standby. Medical teams and ambulances will operate near the church to respond quickly if needed.

Kurbin Mayor Majlinda Cara said local institutions will also support the operation. She confirmed that firefighters, civil emergency teams, and municipal staff will be present on the ground.

“The structures are fully engaged and ready,” Cara said.

Meanwhile, parish priest Dom Land Jaku said the church has also taken all necessary measures to ensure a smooth pilgrimage process. The Church of St. Anthony in Laç attracts thousands of visitors every year from across Albania.

Over time, it has become a major pilgrimage site that goes beyond religious boundaries.

Every Tuesday, and especially around mid-June, the church becomes a major center of prayer and gathering for people from all regions of the country.
