The ancient musical tradition of the Albanian flute is experiencing extraordinary international attention following the inclusion of these indigenous sounds in the latest cinematic project by renowned director Christopher Nolan.

According to the Central State Film Archive (AQSHF), Albanian documentary filmmakers captured this musical tradition decades ago in the documentary “Where Melodies Originate” (“Ku burojnë meloditë”), which has served as a precious testimony to traditional Albanian music since 1980.

AQSHF digitized the documentary in 4K resolution, and specialist Erand Meca restored this specific segment, breathing new life into this audiovisual treasure at the highest quality.

“When our cultural heritage inspires the world, our mission is to preserve it, restore it, and make it accessible for current and future generations. Preserving film means preserving memory,” stated AQSHF in their announcement.
