TIRANA, August 3 – President Bajram Begaj attended the “Welcome to the Albanian Alps – Vuthaj 2026” event in Vuthaj, Montenegro. He described the Albanian Alps as a bridge that connects Albanians with their homeland, preserves national identity, and strengthens ties across generations.
Begaj said the Albanian Alps reflect Albanian history, character, and traditions. He noted that the region has preserved customs, songs, traditional clothing, and ways of life that shape the shared cultural identity of Albanians. He added that visitors discover not only natural beauty but also a lasting connection between people, nature, tradition, and the future.
Meanwhile, the president stressed the importance of protecting the Albanian language, traditions, and culture. He praised the Albanian community of Plava and Gucia for safeguarding its identity while contributing to Montenegro’s development.
In addition, Begaj described Gucia and the Albanian Alps as places where Albanians reconnect with their roots, families, language, and memories. He said the region has long served as a centre of resistance, education, and culture. He also honoured historical figures including Ali Pasha Gucia and Jakup Ferri.
