Rama Attends Opening of Albania’s Honorary Consulate in Naples

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited Naples, Italy, today to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Albania.

Rama shared photos from the opening ceremony and from his meetings with university rectors and representatives of the Albanian Language Chair.

During his visit, Rama also visited the Albanian Language Chair at the University of Naples “L’Orientale.” The institution is one of the historic centers of Albanian studies and hosts the oldest Albanian language chair.

Jeronim De Rada and Arbëresh intellectuals established the chair, which has played an important role in preserving and promoting Albanian language, literature and culture.

Meanwhile, Rama met with the university’s academic staff and highlighted the importance of this long-standing tradition. He called for stronger cooperation and a more structured network to further preserve, promote and develop Albanian studies and cultural heritage.

Minister of Education Mirela Kumbaro also attended the visit.
