Albania is showcasing its innovation ecosystem at Bits & Pretzels 2026, one of Europe’s leading startup and innovation events, in Munich, Germany.

This year, Albania is participating as the partner country. The country is represented by 17 startups from Albania, Kosovo and the diaspora. They are presenting their success stories and highlighting the transformation of Albania’s innovation ecosystem.

Dr. Fabian Mehring, Bavaria’s State Minister for Digital Affairs and Chief Information Officer, also visited the Albanian pavilion. Ministers responsible for digitalization accompanied him during the visit.

During the meeting, Minister Ibrahimaj and Minister Mehring discussed closer cooperation between Albania and Bavaria. They focused on further developing innovation and supporting Albanian startups.

Meanwhile, Mehring met directly with the participating startups. The discussions focused on concrete opportunities to connect German companies with Albanian startups, particularly in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

Ibrahimaj said the 17 startups selected for Bits & Pretzels operate in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and education. She noted that these sectors rank among the most sought-after areas in international markets.

“The goal is for these startups to share their ideas, meet with their peers and attract more investment to our market. Events like this put Albania on the global startup map. They also help us build stronger links with countries that have a strong presence in international markets,” Ibrahimaj said.

Finally, Startup Albania and EU4Innovation (GIZ) are promoting Albania’s innovation ecosystem at Bits & Pretzels. The initiative aims to expand the international presence of Albanian startups. It also seeks to connect them with European innovation and investment networks.
