Minister of Interior Ervin Demo met today with EU Ambassador to Albania Sofia Moreira de Sousa.

The ambassador congratulated Demo on his appointment and stressed the importance of strengthening the rule of law as Albania moves toward EU membership.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed priorities and challenges related to the fight against organized crime, migration management and strengthening the rule of law.

“The rule of law remains at the center of Albania’s path toward the European Union. I congratulated Interior Minister Ervin Demo on his appointment, and we discussed the work ahead to continue fighting organized crime, manage migration effectively and strengthen the rule of law,” Moreira de Sousa said.

The meeting also addressed local governance and the importance of strengthening municipalities’ capacity to provide public services.

“We also discussed local governance and the importance of strong and efficient municipalities in providing the best possible services to citizens,” the EU ambassador said.
