On National Cultural Heritage Day, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja announced that the National Institute of Cultural Heritage has registered and catalogued, for the first time, the objects preserved in the “Mill Room” at Ardenica Monastery.

The objects will now become part of Albania’s cultural heritage inventory. The collection includes capitals, stelae, milestones and other archaeological remains from different periods and areas. Together, they preserve fragments of the country’s history.

Meanwhile, specialists from the National Institute of Cultural Heritage continue to document and study the objects. Through this work, they aim to identify, protect and pass these cultural assets on to future generations.

Ardenica Monastery stands in the center of a chain of hills overlooking the Myzeqe plain.

Gonxhja also shared images of several ancient objects from different periods and areas around the monastery. These include archaeological sites such as Apollonia and Kolkondas.

Some of the objects may date back to the 2nd century BC, adding further historical value to the collection.
