“I am a tour operator and guide who brings tourists to Albania. This is my 12th visit to the country and my ninth visit to Vau-Dejës. During my trips here, I have discovered many unique things that help explain Albania,” said tour operator Havier Labramovic.

The steady return of tourist groups shows the growing interest in the area.

Samela Zagani, who heads tourism in Vau-Dejës, says the destination is becoming increasingly attractive. She points to visitors who want authentic experiences away from traditional tourist routes.

“Vau-Dejës currently offers an authentic experience that visitors may not find elsewhere. The hospitality of local people and the community, along with the beauty, peace, nature, lakes and culture, are becoming increasingly popular,” Zagani said.

Tourism in Vau-Dejës goes beyond landscapes and natural attractions. Local residents are also becoming part of the tourist experience. They are opening their homes to visitors and offering traditional food alongside their hospitality.

“Albanian homes are always open, and everyone is welcome in our country. I make the bread and homemade byrek. I also raise my own fish, chickens and eggs, and I try to prepare everything myself,” said local resident Lindita Tanishi.

Visitors to Vau-Dejës can experience nature, landscapes and local traditions. Above all, they can discover the hospitality of the community. From traditional dishes to everyday local experiences, the area offers visitors a different way to explore northern Albania through its food and culture.
