Prime Minister Edi Rama today welcomed European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen with an official ceremony.

Following the playing of the European Union anthem and the Albanian national anthem, Prime Minister Rama and President von der Leyen headed to the Prime Minister’s Office, where they will also hold a bilateral meeting.

After the meeting, Prime Minister Rama and President von der Leyen are expected to hold a joint press conference.

Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen began her Western Balkans tour in Tirana today. She is also expected to visit Kosovo, Montenegro and North Macedonia.

Her agenda in Albania includes meetings with President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama.

During her Western Balkans tour, von der Leyen is expected to focus on relations between the European Union and the region, as well as the European integration process.
