French Blog Highlights Albania as an Affordable Coastal Holiday Destination

Albania is attracting growing attention as a more affordable holiday destination at a time when many popular international destinations, particularly island and luxury-focused locations, come with higher costs.

According to an article published by the French blog “Horticulture-Abadie-Pyrénées,” Albania ranks among the destinations that can offer an attractive holiday experience at more accessible prices. The country is therefore emerging as an option for travelers who want to discover new places without spending heavily.

Belgian travelers have already started planning their summer holidays. France, Belgium and Italy remain among the most popular destinations. However, travelers are increasingly considering other countries that offer different holiday experiences.

Travel costs can also vary significantly within the same country. Spain provides one example, as prices in popular destinations such as Marbella differ from those along the Costa Brava.

Several factors determine the overall cost of a trip. These include transportation, the type of travel package, the length of the stay and the cost of living at the destination.

Exotic Islands Remain Luxury Destinations

Island destinations generally cost more because of higher transportation and logistical expenses.

In the Maldives, for example, individual islands often have only one resort. This limited supply can contribute to higher prices.

A single seaplane transfer can cost between $450 and $600. Meanwhile, a night in an overwater bungalow at a resort can cost around $2,000.

Barbados, the Cayman Islands, Seychelles and Mauritius also feature among destinations that largely target the luxury tourism market.

Albania Emerges as a More Affordable Option

By contrast, Albania is emerging as a developing destination that offers more affordable holiday options.

Piet Demeyere, a spokesperson for TUI Belgium, said the company has included Albania in its summer program for the third consecutive year. He also described Albania as one of the destinations offering some of the lowest prices in the program.

According to Demeyere, travelers can also reach Albania through direct TUI fly flights to Tirana.

“This destination particularly appeals to people who want to discover new places,” Demeyere said.

Durrës, located on Albania’s Adriatic coast and about 30 minutes by car from Tirana, also offers relatively affordable ways to explore the destination.

In the city, visitors can rent an electric bicycle for around €5 for two hours. The option provides a practical way to explore the city and coastline.

Luxury hotels near the coast can charge higher rates. However, surrounding areas offer more affordable accommodation options.

Apartment rentals also provide a budget-friendly alternative for visitors who want to enjoy Albania’s coastline while keeping accommodation costs under control.

The French blog also lists Iceland, Switzerland, South Africa, Japan, Bulgaria and Tunisia among alternative destinations for travelers looking to discover different places during their summer holidays.
