Albanian Armed Forces Academy starts academic year at new campus, Nufi: Modernization in line with Euro-Atlantic standards is a priority

The Armed Forces Academy has opened the 2026–2027 academic year at its new campus. A total of 289 students have started their professional and military training to serve the country.

At the opening ceremony, Minister of Defense Ermal Nufi described the new campus as a sign of Albania’s commitment to building modern and professional Armed Forces.

Nufi said military education remains a priority. He also stressed the need to align it with Euro-Atlantic standards.

“Our responsibility is to build a military education system that meets today’s needs and prepares personnel for tomorrow’s challenges. We need a high-quality and competitive system that fully meets Euro-Atlantic standards. Albania is a committed NATO ally. It is no longer only a consumer, but also an active contributor,” Nufi said.

Meanwhile, the Academy has started the new academic year in a campus built according to international standards. Nufi said investment in education directly strengthens national security.

He also highlighted the growing role of new technologies. Artificial intelligence, cyber threats and other emerging technologies are changing modern conflicts and military operations.

“Future military personnel must not only know how to use technology. They must also understand how technology changes the way they think, plan and make decisions,” Nufi said.

The Minister also praised the Academy’s professors, instructors and staff. He thanked the students’ families for supporting their educational journey.

Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, and Commander of the Armed Forces Academy, Major General Ferdinand Dimo, also attended the ceremony.

Academics, commanders, military officials and students were also present.
