Stronger ties among Western Balkan countries are essential to the region’s future in the European Union, while also strengthening security and resilience, the European Union Delegation in Tirana said today.

The statement came during the 12th Tirana Forum on Regional Connectivity, organized by the Institute for Cooperation and Development. The forum focused on closer cooperation among Western Balkan countries and their commitments to implementing national reform agendas under the new Growth Plan.

The main message was clear: Albania and the region are moving from preparation to concrete implementation.

EU Ambassador to Albania Sofia Moreira de Sousa stressed that the EU will continue to support the Western Balkan partners.

“The EU will continue its strong political, technical and financial support for the six Western Balkan partners. This support will help them advance key political, institutional, social and economic reforms needed to progress on their path towards the EU,” de Sousa said.
