Albania and Montenegro media authorities sign UHF frequency coordination deal

Albania’s Audiovisual Media Authority and Montenegro’s Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services have signed a final technical agreement on cross-border coordination of the UHF 470–694 MHz frequency band.
AMA Chair Armela Krasniqi said the process began in 2022 with an agreement in principle between the two institutions. The sides completed it after four years of technical discussions, consultations and negotiations.
The agreement sets technical parameters and conditions for coordinated frequency use by Albania and Montenegro. It aims to prevent harmful cross-border interference and improve the efficient use of the spectrum. Meanwhile, Krasniqi said it also creates conditions for further development of digital terrestrial television networks. She added that the process forms part of spectrum replanning in line with European developments and international standards.
