Actor Xhevdet Ferri posthumously honored with the title “Honor of the City”

The Durrës actor Xhevdet Ferri was posthumously honored by the Durrës municipality with the title ‘Honour of the City,’ four years after his death. This tribute was bestowed on the day Ferri passed away from an incurable disease.
Many friends, family members, and art lovers gathered for an emotional commemoration on the occasion of awarding the ‘Honor of the City’ title to the great actor, Xhevdet Ferri.
The ceremony took place at the “Aleksandër Moisiu” theater, where the actor had portrayed numerous roles. Friends and colleagues shared memories of Xhoda, as he was known in their close circle.
“I’ve collaborated extensively with him, and we worked together on films such as “Thinking,” “Shadows that Remain Behind,” “Sako’s Wedding,” and finally in the movie “Delegation.” We even shared moments as deputies of parliament. Our connection went beyond work; we were drawn together by shared tastes, nature, and general discussions about theater, film, and life. It’s a shame that he left us before reaching the age of 60,” said actor Ndriçim Xhepa.
” “There are too many emotions for me; I can’t contain them. His departure was swift, a loss for the theater. My knees are shaking, and I’m at a loss for words,” said Hysen Bashhysa.
“He was highly cooperative, fostering warm and social relationships,” added actor Xhelal Tafaj.
“Xhevdet Feri was among the wisest colleagues in the Albanian art community. Endowed with emotional intelligence and intellect, he was blessed by God with a very big soul, embodying what is called an ‘Artist’,” said Anila Varfi.
“Before, I’ve had emotions, but today was particularly tough. I first met Xhoda in 1981, and since that day, we’ve surprisingly been very close,” said Petrit Beci.
Amidst emotions and longing, Bora Ferri remembered her father as a grateful and remarkably modest man.
“How beautiful you were, my father. How could I not resemble you a bit more? You left us too soon. If you were here today, you would have changed colors several times because, despite your profession, you disliked being in the center of attention. Gratitude was among the virtues that defined you, and today, you would have been truly grateful,” said the daughter of Xhevdet Ferri.
The mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, expressed heartfelt gratitude for what he contributed to Albanian art.
“His name and the works he left behind are significant, but we also extend our modest assessment – and I use ‘modest’ because Durrës cannot truly measure up to his stature,” said Mayor Emiriana Sako.
Xhevdet Ferri passed away on January 16, 2020, at the age of 59. He was the husband of the actress Rozeta Ferri, with whom he co-starred in many films, including “And One Day Comes,” “Waiting Years,” and “Gjoleka Son of Abazi.”
