Begaj: “Oda Dibrane” Unites Albanians and Preserves National Identity

President Bajram Begaj visited Dibër this weekend and attended the closing ceremony of the 32nd edition of the “Oda Dibrane” festival. During his visit, he also met Dibër Mayor Rahim Spahiu to discuss local development projects, challenges, cultural heritage and tourism potential.

Begaj described the festival as a symbol of unity among Albanians in Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, the Preševo Valley, the Arbëresh communities and the diaspora worldwide. He said culture and tradition continue to unite Albanians beyond national borders, calling “Oda Dibrane” a major gathering place for Albanian culture.

The president stressed that communities must actively preserve their cultural heritage and pass it on to younger generations. Songs, dances, language, customs and traditional crafts remain alive only when people practise and share them, he said. Begaj also praised the diaspora for maintaining its ties with the homeland and thanked the organizers, artists, researchers, institutions and audiences who have supported the festival over its 32-year history.
