The local editorial board of the “Albanian Encyclopedia” gathered to make an assessment of the work of 2023 and prediction for the 2024 calendar.

The local editors of the “Albanian Encyclopedia” assessed that the approval of inter-governmental, inter-academic and dispositions and those of the unification of technical and professional standards is a basic achievement.

Some achievements of the past year are regard the set up of the editorial offices, supported according to the disciplines in 27 fields of knowledge and making them operational, the interaction among them and the relevant editorial offices of Kosova, and  the establishment of a special coordinating office for the Albanian Heritage in North Macedonia.

The editorial offices of all three levels are already in working.

Some of the editors of the fields, like literature, physical and human geography, education, economy-finance and biology have drawn up a preliminary list of reference words, special and general names (dictionary, lexicon, designation); a part of which is under completion.

Stabilization of the vocabulary, based on the databases FESH and FEK, as well as regional and thematic encyclopedias, is a two-fold process: “collect and select”. It will be closed by the end of March 2024.

An instructional conversation will be organized with all the members of the editorial offices of the fields, with the participation of the special editorial office of North Macedonia, during the month of January.

Editor-in-Chief of the “Albanian Encyclopedia”, Skënder Gjinushi said in this meeting that the three major projects in Albanianology: “History of Albanians”, “Great Dictionary of Albanian” and “Albanian Encyclopedia”, evidenced in advance the progressive character of the institutional reform. The functional merger occurred before formal merger. The success of the first two initiatives also ensures the success of the completion of the Albanian Encyclopedia.
