Devolli dance declared national treasure

Devolli dance, the dress of the Mirditore woman and the Gramsh fifes are the three cultural heritages that have been declared National Treasures by the National Council of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

For their inalienable and rare values, receiving this status paves the way for them to be proposed to be declared world heritage by UNESCO.

That was the statement made by the Minister of Culture of Albania, Elva Margariti, through an announcement on social networks, while she also attached some photographs.

“After examining the proposal of the patriotic cultural association “Devolli” and the Municipality of Devolli, the National Council of Intangible Cultural Heritage decided to include in the list of national values this men’s dance performed in the area of Devolli and Korça, which lifts the hearts of Albanians every time it culminates in the festivities of joys!”, reads Margariti’s announcement.

This status not only gives them their rightful place as spiritual wealth, but also increases their monetary value, as has happened with the jubilee since it became part of UNESCO.

These three assets have brought to 103 the number of assets registered at the National Institute of Cultural Heritage Registration, this small number compared to what really are the traditions of Albania.
