105th anniversary of Durrës Congress convention

The Congress of Durrës was convened 105 years ago.

The Congress, held from December 25 to 27, aimed to secure the territorial integrity and continuity of the Albanian state following the conclusion of the First World War. Over 50 delegates participated in this historic event.

In Durrës, a decision was made to establish a temporary government comprising 14 members. The Congress also determined the formation of an Eldership (Senate) to act as an advisory body to the government. Delegates advocated for the preservation of Albania’s independence and territorial integrity, urged a revision of the 1913 borders, and resolved to present these demands to the Peace Conference.

The General Directorate of Archives commemorates this anniversary by releasing a photo of the participants alongside the minutes compiled on December 26, 1918, documenting the proceedings of the Congress’s first day.
