From arts and crafts to designed products, the fair dedicated to advancing the economic empowerment of women

The Destil center hosted a fair highlighting the creative and commercial skills of women. This event marked the culmination of diverse training sessions under the project ‘Economic Empowerment of Women and Gender Perspective in the Business Value Chain’.
The project focuses on tackling gender equality and enhancing women’s economic empowerment in the face of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change. Supported by the State Department’s Gender Equity and Equality Action (GEEA), it has been carried out by the Gender Alliance Center for Development within the Tirana Municipality. The project specifically aims to empower women entrepreneurs in the region.
The project concentrates on specific sectors, including handicrafts, agro-tourism, textiles, and olive oil production. It aims to alleviate the insecurities faced by women by conducting a gender analysis of the business value chain within these sectors.
To achieve this milestone, the initiative comprised 27 training sessions, including 4 focused on marketing, 21 centered on economic empowerment, budgeting, banking, and insurance, 1 dedicated to e-commerce, and 1 aimed at fostering the personal growth of women entrepreneurs.
Throughout the initiative, 453 women entrepreneurs underwent training provided by 24 experts hailing from diverse sectors.
