The Harabel Contemporary Art Center is set to host the renowned violinist Tedi Papavrami in an upcoming concert at the National Theater of Opera and Ballet in Tirana. In this special event, Papavrami will be returning to his homeland to perform alongside his wife, the esteemed Japanese pianist, Maki Okada.

During the initial segment of the concert on December 14, the repertoire will include Debussy’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in G minor and Faure’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in A major. In the latter part of the performance, both partners, both on stage and in life, will present two additional sonatas by Schumann and Brahms.

Tedi Papavrami displayed exceptional talent as a “child prodigy” in the realm of musical performance from a very young age. His remarkable abilities garnered him attention, leading to a scholarship from the French government in September 1982. This enabled him to pursue studies at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique in Paris, where he was mentored by Pierre Amoyal.

Papavrami’s accolades include winning the “Rodolfo Lipitzer” competition in Gorizia in 1985, followed by the unanimous achievement of the “First Prize of the Paris Conservatory” in 1986. His musical journey continued with the receipt of a diploma from the Lausanne Conservatory in 1987. Throughout his career, he has been the recipient of numerous awards and has showcased his talents by performing alongside prestigious orchestras across various countries worldwide.

Maki Okada concluded her studies at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo before continuing her education in France. Her time spent in France and Europe significantly influenced her musical growth and development. Presently, she concentrates on the violin and piano repertoire, collaborating with her husband, Tedi Papavrami.

Their joint performances have garnered recognition, including the prestigious “Barocsaal” award in Kyoto in 2018, recognizing their collaborative concert as the best of the season.
