A concert with the performances and solo interpretations of the Albanian dance legend Besim Zekthi, who passed away 3 years ago, comes this Tuesday evening from the artists of the Opera and Ballet House, through various choreographic numbers played by master Zekthi over the years.

For five decades Besim Zekthi remained unique with the strength, plastic and the weight of his dance. The folk dance master left his indelible mark on the Albanian scene and abroad.

Besim Zekthi performed over 200 dances as a soloist. He created hundreds of artistic figures, which are fixed in the artistic memory of all his art lovers. Zekthi was among the main protagonists who awarded the Golden Necklace to Albania at the Dijon Festival in France in 1970. But the artist excelled also as a choreographer, and some of his creations are an indisputable part of the repertoire of the National Folk Song and Dance Ensemble.

In 2017 Besim Zekthi was decorated with the title “Honour of the Nation” for all his contribution over the years.
