A new plan to speed up WB integration process

During a joint press conference with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, one day before the Berlin Summit that will take place in Tirana, Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that the situation in the region and the necessity of a common walk by all the countries of the region using all the capacities of the Berlin Process, were discussed in the joint meeting.

“We also talked about the situation in the region and the necessity of a common walk of all the countries of the region, using all the capacities of the Berlin Process. We also talked about what, in my opinion, is the most important innovation of a Berlin Process summit in years, thanks to the President who did not come to Tirana simply to repeat the known things, but also to present a new plan that it will greatly help the Western Balkans and our countries to move faster towards the EU,” declared Rama.

The Prime Minister also stated that the President had informed him about the progress of the screening process.

“The president informed me about the screening process, which is an in-depth diagnosis of the situation in all sectors of the country that has received approval to negotiate membership. I am glad that we heard good words from the President about the process and what Albania has done,” said Rama.

Albanian Prime Minister reiterated that Albania remains fully aligned with the EU regarding Russian aggression in Ukraine.

“Albania has a modest size, it has a modest role, but we, within our size and in our role, have been and will remain fully aligned with the EU in relation to Ukraine, on a front that is not simple to support Ukraine, but to carry the flag of non-negotiable values and principles of this great united family of countries that believe in freedom, democracy, the unconditional right of every European country,” he said.

Rama once again appreciated the support of the EC President for the recovery after the strong earthquake that hit our country in the early morning of November 26, 2019.

“There was another tragic moment for our country and people, when the devastating earthquake brought so much pain and so much damage. And without the President of the EC, her personal, direct commitment to very quickly call a big conference in Brussels and ask everyone for solidarity, we would not have succeeded. And tens of thousands of children who lost their schools in that earthquake, would not be today studying in schools that have no difference from the best schools of the EU countries”, added the prime minister.
