Acting Speaker Elisa Spiropali Reacts to PM Rama’s Proposal as Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs

Elisa Spiropali, acting Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, responded for the first time after Prime Minister Edi Rama proposed her as Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
In a social media post, Spiropali called the role an honor and a great responsibility. She emphasized that Albania’s EU integration by 2030 is a historic mission.
“Forward to Albania 2030! After leading Parliament, I am honored to receive PM Rama’s and the Socialist Assembly’s trust to lead the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. EU integration by 2030 is not just a political goal but our historic mission. The prestige, strength, and dignity of Albania and Albanians everywhere remain my life’s highest duty. With unwavering faith and many challenges ahead, we walk together toward a European future. Thank you,” Spiropali wrote.
Outgoing Minister Igli Hasani also reacted on social media, calling the role a great honor and responsibility for any diplomat. He praised the importance of dignified representation of Albania abroad and thanked PM Rama for his trust.
“For two years, I have tried to serve with humility, supporting Albania’s interests worldwide. I believe the only sustainable path is strengthening institutions and integrity. Effective diplomacy grows from cooperation, substance, and trust,” Hasani said.
During today’s Socialist Party Assembly, PM Rama officially proposed Elisa Spiropali as the new Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
